Plumbers near Mill Woods Edmonton: the district
The Mill Woods land bank was assembled in 1970, and the City had a development plan ready by 1971. Building ages differ from one neighbourhood to the next. In Meyonohk, one of the 27, homes went up from 1975 to the early 1980s. Residential building in Mill Woods Town Centre began in the 1990s and ran into the early 2000s.
Mill Woods flooding: what happened in 2012
A 2016 Government of Canada release says Mill Woods was hard-hit by heavy rains, with over 500 homes reporting flooding in 2012. EPCOR says basement flooding is most common in spring melt and summer rainstorms, and that heavy rain can bring the stormwater system to capacity.
If sewage comes up, stop using water and call EPCOR at 780-412-4500. The full steps are on sewer backup.
Sewer backup Edmonton: older Mill Woods homes
Homes in Meyonohk date from 1975 to the early 1980s. EPCOR says backwater valves weren't required in homes built before 1989, and that homes built before 1989 likely have weeping tile only, without a sump pump.
EPCOR's Backwater Valve Subsidy, up to $800, targets homeowners in areas with previous neighbourhood flooding, among other criteria. EPCOR says there are no guarantees of a subsidy.
